Allowed subjects

From what I've read of the rules and the way I understand it, art is supposed to be of someone's character. Now, are there rules about how closely you have to follow that character? For example, if I drew a bird and coloured it like someone's dog character, would that be okay?

I'm kind of tired of drawing dogs so I was hoping to do some more adventurous art for Art Fight, but I'm not sure what would and wouldn't count. I'm guessing drawing a car and making it merle like someone's Aussie character is a bit too far-fetched x)

I'd say its allowed. (and now I have an urge to do that car one. )
The point of the art fight is to do art for people, I see the characters as being secondary to that.

I see no reason why that wouldn't be fine. I have a tag from last year that has one of my characters as a seal, actually. The main purpose of this is to encourage people to practice drawing. So if you want to draw a bird or a car and not a dog I don't see why that would be an issue. C:

Ooh, awesome! It seemed like the fights were very character-centric, but knowing that other subjects are allowed gives me so many more ideas x)

After I wrote the car example I wanted to do it too, actually xD Objects are great for shading practice so I might do some object sketches for that reason.
